Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Senior Viking Football’s Ian Sissel as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Ian scored three touchdowns in Friday’s game against Harrisburg and on defense caught an interception and batted down an Eagle pass to thwart a scoring attempt. Ian’s ironman efforts helped the Vikings to the 47-7 win.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to another Viking Football player, junior Cort Waggoner. Cort had 2 and a half sacks and several hurries on defense in the Viking win.
Viking Soccer
Viking boys soccer held off the attacks by La Pine last night at Hans Petersen Field. The Vikings took a total 36 shots on goal and scored 5 points in the shut-out. Nicholas May scored two of the Viking goals in the first half with Charles Nelson adding a third. The next two goals came in the second half one by Alex Goss and the final goal by Yoskar De La Mora.
Viking girls were also on the field last night that game ended in a 0-0 tie.
