Wrestling Cancelled; New Coaches for Siuslaw; Vikings/Pirates; Mapleton Basketball; Ducks at Home

Wrestling Cancelled

Last night’s wrestling match that was scheduled at Siuslaw High School had to be cancelled.  Teams were not able to fill enough weights due to sickness.  There is no update as to when or if the matches will be rescheduled.

New Coaches for Siuslaw

Siuslaw High School has announced the hiring of two more coaches.  Sara Mann has been hired as an assistant wrestling coach.  Coach Neil Wartnik says Mann will be in charge of the women’s wrestling at the high school.

David Anderson has been hired as an assistant Track and Field coach.  Anderson is a Louisiana native  and has coached 27 state championship teams it track and cross country.  Anderson received honors as the Louisiana Sportswriters Association 4 times and was the National Federation of High Schools National Coach of the Year Twice.

Vikings/Pirates

The Siuslaw Vikings were on the road at Marshfield last night.  It was a close game for the Viking boys who trailed most of the game.  The Vikings and pirates were tied late in the game when the Pirates hit a 3 pointer with just 3 seconds left on the clock defeating the Vikings 44-41.Andrew Jensen Norman had 20 points on the night Jimmy Allen added 14.

The Pirate ladies also defeated the Vikings 35-12.

Mapleton Basketball

Triangle Lake defeated the Mapleton Sailors boys last night last night 44-17.

Ducks at Home

The Oregon Ducks will host UC Riverside this evening the game will be on KCST beginning at 5:30 with a 6 pm tip off.
