Athlete of the Week: Macali Lade
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior grappler Macali Lade as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Macali went undefeated in the Warrenton Dual Holiday Wrestling meet in the 110 pound weight category last week following up on her second place finish in the Grants Pass Winter Kickoff the previous week.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to another Siuslaw grappler freshman Jacob Mann who had a pair of impressive wins in the Holiday Duals according to Coach Neil Wartnik going undefeated for the meet.
The Siuslaw Vikings are back on the mat on Thursday hosting Duals with Elmira, Marshfield and Stayton.
Holiday Bowl
Tomorrow is the Holiday Bowl between the 15th ranked Oregon Ducks and the North Carolina Tarheels. The game will be aired on KCST beginning at 3 pm with a 5 pm kickoff. Oregon is the favorite but 3 weeks before the end of the season both Oregon and UNC were possible picks for the College Football Playoffs, but both teams slid with UNC losing its last three games and Oregon losing 2 of its last three to Washington and Oregon State.
