Mapleton Basketball
The Mapleton Sailor Girls Basketball team had its final game of the season last night. The playoff game against Triangle Lake ended with the lakers defeating the Sailors 51-32.
This evening the Mapleton Boys will see if they move on as they face Siletz Valley Warriors. The game will be a home game for the Sailors with a 5:30 tip off.
Battle in Seattle
It was a battle in Seattle last night for the Oregon Ducks. The Huskies on their home court were not going to let the Ducks by them. There were 24 lead changes in the game and at the end of regulation the score was tied 64-64. N’Faly Dante led the Ducks in scoring with 19 and with 13 rebounds earn himself a double-double. Jermaine Couisnard scored 18. The Ducks led three times in overtime, but the Huskies held on as a late drive to the basket by Will Richardson was denied. Final score 72-71 Huskies. The loss lessens the Ducks chance at an NCAA bid as they were predicted as one of the last four teams that had the potential to make March Madness.
