Champions in Wrestling
There are two new State Champion Wrestlers among the Siuslaw Viking. On Friday 8 viking wrestlers competed for a spot atop the podium and two came out on top. For the Viking Ladies it was Macali Lade in the 110 pound category who took home the championship. Macali defeated Julia towers of Taft by fall for the win in the finals.
For the boys it was Mason Buss who scored the victory. He defeated Bryce Chilgren of Harrisburg. Buss was a perfect 32-0 on the season.
Dayne Muller at 220 scored a second place finish falling to Mishael Mauck of banks by a 3-2 decision. Jane Lacouture also finished high in the ranks with a 3rd place finish defeating Kaitlin Brock from LaGrande in the 155 pound weight class. And for the boys Hunter Petterson had a third place finish in the 132 pound category defeating Cooper Yensen of McLoughlin by fall.
Barn Burner in Corvallis
The Ducks and the Beavers took it down to the wire on Saturday. Refs took a close look at an out of bounds trying to determine which team would get the ball for the remaining ½ second on the clock. It was determined that it would go to the beavers who trailed by two. The beavers inbound went to the paint rather than trying for the win with a three pointer and the clock expired with the Ducks taking the 69-67 win in Corvallis.
