Pole Vault Competition
The second annual pole vault competition in old town had a sunny day for its event. People gathered on the streets of Old Town to view the event. Addison Kleinke who scored record in the pole vault for 13’6” last year failed to qualify for 12’. Team Wakonda senior Kyle Hughes set a personal best by clearing 14 feet. Two vaulters from the Prefontaine Track Club cleared 14’6” junior’s Jonathan Parks and Danner Wilson. The event closed the street for most of the day.
Siuslaw Softball
Siuslaw Softball was defeated by Waldport yesterday in Waldport 12-4. The girls are scheduled to host Coquille on Saturday at 12:30.
Thompson Added to AAA Roster
Former Siuslaw Viking and Oregon State Beaver baseball standout Jake Thompson was officially added to the AAA roster for the Worcester Red Sox. Starting the season at the AAA level increases the chances that Thompson could find his way to the Boston roster. Thompson was drafted by the Red Sox organization in the fourth round in 2017 and is in the final year of this contract with the club.
