Viking Baseball

The Siuslaw Vikings fell into a 5-1 hole after a shaky top half of the third inning last night, but wild pitches and throwing eras cut the lead with the Vikings scoring 4 in the bottom of the inning.  Despite the rough start the Vikings stayed ahead of Elmira adding 2 more in the fourth.  Micah Blankenship came in for relief in the 5th inning allowing no more runs by the Falcons.  In the bottom of the 6th inning the Vikings scored 4 more for an 11-5 victory.  The two teams do it over again on Friday in Elmira.

Viking/Mapleton Softball

The combined Elmira/Mapleton softball team visited the Vikings yesterday bringing an onslaught of 27 runs adding to their season wins holding the Vikings to 8 runs.  Elmira/Mapleton is 3-0 in league play.

Viking Golf

Viking golf continues to win tournaments.  The boys won again yesterday at McNary with an overall score of 377.  Ryan Klampe shared the best round of the day with AJ Johnson from La Pine with a 77.  Finishing fourth overall was freshman Will Johnson with an 87.

Mapleton Track

Mapleton Track and Field hosted the Mapleton Invitational yesterday.  Freshman Ramil Beers set a personal record with a second place finish in the 100 meter at 11.90.  Helen Burruss set a personal record in the 800 meter at 3:02.91

Viking Track

Viking track and field participated in a JV meet in Cottage Grove.  Ray Brito-xilot took first in the 400 meters with a PR time of 53.54. Lucian Murphey took first place in the 110 meter hurdles with a PR time of 17.15.  the boys 4×400 team took the top spot with a time of 3:42.12.  Jonathan Rose took first place in the discus and javelin and second in the shot put. Freshman Kale Jensen tied for first in the high jump at 5’6”.  Kyle Hughes, Talan ross and Justin Allen took the top three spots in the Pole Vault and sophomore Michael Felkins took the third spot in the long jump with a PR best of 16’9.5”  for the ladies Maya Wells took first in the 800m with a PR time of 2:30.87 and freshman Alison Hughes took first in the 1500m with a time of 5:21.76 also a PR Corduroy Holbrook finished third.  Danin Lacouture tossed the shot put 28’11” for the top spot. She finished second in the discus with a pr of 79’9”.  Jane Lacouture and Danin Lacouture tossed the spear for the 2nd and 3rd place spots respectively.
