Viking Baseball

The Siuslaw Vikings split a double Header with Elmira on Friday. The Vikings were in control of game one with a 9-5 lead when Elmira used the bottom of the 6th inning to bring 7 runs across the plate taking a 12-9 lead.  The Vikings brought one more one across the plate in the top of the 7th before Elmira shut them down.  Game two was a different story.  Noah Dotson pitched 5 innings for the Vikings facing 20 batters and striking out 9.  The Vikings produced 13 runs on 6 hits with Elmira getting 8 errors.  The Vikings also had 8 stolen bases.

Elmira/Mapleton defeated the Vikings in their double header 17-2 and 14-4.

Intra Squad Competition

It was all Siuslaw, literally, in the Seafoam Showdown on Friday.  There were a lot of seasonal records set.  Hunter Petterson set two with first place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter races. Cort Waggoner set a personal best in the shot put tossing the orb 19’5” for a second place finish.  Kyle Hughes got close to the 15 foot mark in the Pole vault with a 14’11” vault. For the ladies Ava Borgnino set personal records in the 100. 200, and 400 meter races. Maya Wells set a PR in the 1500.

Beaver Baseball

The Oregon State Beavers swept the USC Trojans over the weekend.  10-4 on Friday, extra innings on Saturday with a 3-2 victory and 6-3 yesterday in Corvallis.  The face Seattle U at home tomorrow before heading to Tempe on Friday.

Ducks Baseball

The Oregon Ducks took 2 of 3 from #7 Stanford.  Yesterday the two teams were knotted up at 4 a piece when a single scored a run and then a walk brought in a second run for a 6-4 Stanford lead.  The Ducks were unable to score in the final two innings.  The Ducks will face Portland tomorrow and then head to Berkeley on Friday to take on Cal.
