Track and Field Championships
Day one of the OSAA 3A state championships has already produced one state champion for Siuslaw. Kyle Hughes set a personal record best of 15’ in the Pole Vault to take the prize. Freshman Will Johnson and sophomore Justin Allen followed in 6th and 7th place.
Senior Jonathan Rose took 6th in the state for the shot put with a personal record toss of 13.13 meters. Today there will be the completion of the track events. Yesterday’s preliminary races were very tight with just fractions of seconds separating runners. Senior Hunter Petterson is competing in the 200 and 400 meter races. Senior Sam Ulrich is competing in the 800 meters along with junior Dylan Jensen and senior Jacob Blankenship. Senior Noel Hernandez is competing in the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles and senior Lucian Murphey is competing in the 110 meter hurdles. For the Viking ladies it is sophomore Maya Wells competing in the 800 meters and freshman Alison Hughes in the 3000 meters. Junior Jane Lacouture finished 12 in the Javelin.
