Athlete of The Year
The common area at Siuslaw High School was filled with students preparing to hear who were the recipients of the Athlete of the Year awards by the Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio sports. After a brief introduction of the finalists the AOTY plaque for the girls went to Macali Lade. Lade was the first ever state champion for the women in Wrestling and was a soccer and track athlete as well.
For the boys the award went to Hunter Petterson who was a three sport athlete in football, wrestling, and track and field. Petterson was 25-6 on the mat, and the anchor leg in the 4X400 relay that brought the Viking their state Championship.
Super Regionals
The Oregon Ducks are playing on their home field this evening for the Super Regionals. The Ducks face Oral Roberts this evening beginning at 5 pm from PK Park. Game two is tomorrow at 6pm. Should a game 3 be needed it will be played on Sunday with a time to be determined.
