Everett Gone From ESPN; Ducks Walk Their Way Out of Omaha

Everett Gone From ESPN

Budget cuts at ABC is the reason being used to cut more than 7000 jobs.  One of the areas that is affected by the cuts is the networks flagship sports station ESPN.  It was recently announced that former Coast Radio alumni, Neil Everett was a casualty of those cutbacks.  Everett recently took a position with the Portland Trailblazers, but continued his work with ESPN.  Everett had been working for the sports station for 23 years.  Walt Disney is the parent company of ABC and has mandated a spending cut of 5.5 billion dollars worldwide.  While reporting the planned cuts ESPN also reported a deal to offer television and radio personality Pat McAfee $85 million dollars over the next 5 years.

Ducks Walk Their Way Out of Omaha

After a comeback for the ages on Friday, the Oregon Ducks failed to complete their run to Omaha.  Pitching has been the Achilles heal for the Ducks with pitchers being unable to find the strike zone.  In last night’s game 3 the Ducks used 9 pitchers and issued 11 walks resulting in multiple runs including 3 in the top of the ninth inning to expand the Golden Eagles score to 11.  The Ducks were hoping to erase the drought that had been ongoing since 1954, the last time they made the trip to the College World Series.  Final Score last night 11-6.
