Viking Soccer
Viking Soccer defeated Sutherlin at home last night by keeping the bulldogs out of the net entirely and heaping on 7 goals in the process. Siuslaw/mapleton took 21 shots on goal in the first half converting on 4 and took 18 shots in the second half converting on 3. Coach Londi Tomaro says there are things they continue to polish, but the team played quite well.
Viking Football
Viking football will be in Mount Angel this evening where they’ll face the number three ranked Kennedy Trojans. Siuslaw coach Sam Johnson says the Trojans are very close to the same team the Vikings fell to in the pre-season last year. A team that has been in the state championship game the last two years. Last year the Trojans lost to Cascade Christian in the 3A game, two years ago they lost to Coquille in the 2A championships. Those losses were just two of the three Kennedy has sustained in the last two seasons. That said, Johnson says he’s not changing anything up for tonight.
“We don’t want to change who we are just because we’re playing a really good team. We’re a pretty solid team when it all comes down to it so we’re just going to do what we do and for us it’s just being aggressive and being physical and being able to play football better than Kennedy can on Friday night in the fall.”
The pregame show on KCST is at 6:45, kick off is at seven.
