Viking Volleyball Takes Tournament
Siuslaw Viking Volleyball made a clean sweep of their opponents on Saturday at the Junction City Tournament. up first for the Vikings was Gladstone, followed by Newport and then Junction City. The Vikings did not give up a set for the entire tournament. Over the 6 sets Rhianna Lane shined bright for the Viks with 55 kills and 12 blocks. Jolee Erickson had 23 kills and 2 blocks. Ashley Hennessee added 22 kills and Meika Shappell had 86 digs. The Lady Viks are scheduled to host Harrisburg tomorrow night.
Vikings Over Creswell
An interception return for a score on Siuslaw’s first play gave Creswell a 6 point lead only 17 seconds into the game Friday night. But, the Vikings shrugged it off, went to work and took the lead just over two minutes later on the way to a 38-14 Mountain Valley Conference win at home. Micah Blankenship connected for three touchdown passes, two with Michael Felkins, a 24-yarder for the lead and the second, for 20 yards midway through the fourth quarter, for the final score of the game. Jordan Pitcher caught a 45-yard pass for a score in the third quarter. Max Reynolds carried the ball 21 times for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Siuslaw travels to Elmira this Friday where they’ll face the Falcons.
Mapleton Volleyball
Mapleton Volleyball was at Triangle Lake for a Saturday tournament. the Sailors went 0-3 against Triangle Lake and 0-3 against Crow. Mapleton will host Siletz Valley tomorrow.
Ducks and Beavers Score Wins
The Ducks and Beavers were both victorious over their opponents. The Beavers on Friday defeated Utah 21-7 and the Ducks on Saturday defeated Stanford 42-6.
Siuslaw boy’s soccer will be at Creswell tomorrow and the girl’s soccer will host Creswell.
