Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sport congratulate senior grappler Jane Lacouture as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Wrestling at 170 pounds Lacouture has come on strong of late culminating in a Championship victory at last weekend’s Grants Pass Winter Kick-off. Helping the girls team to a 3rd place victory.
Honorable mention goes to junior Siuslaw Viking Basketball player Landon Curley. Curley led the Viking defense against the Waldport Irish scoring 16 points in the 64-33 win.
Mapleton Basketball
The Mapleton Sailor boy’s basketball team is looking to score a victory in the final round of the C.S. Lewis Invitational. They will face C.S. Lewis Academy today at 3:30. The Sailors improved to 6-2 after defeating Columbia Christian 54-43.
The Sailor Girls will also face C.S. Lewis Academy in the final round today after handing Columbia Christian a loss winning 36-16. They play at 5pm this evening.
Viking Basketball
The Viking boys and girls basketball travel to South Umpqua this evening. The girls will tip off first at 6pm followed by the boys.
