Nick Lutz Invitational
Macali Lade and Jane Lacouture took first place in their respective weight categories at Saturday’s Nick Lutz Invitational. Abby Riggs and Danin Lacouture scored a second place finish in their weight classes. Elizabeth Edwards finished 4th in the 105 pound class.
For the Boys it was Leo Robertson in the 144 pound weight class that dominated. Leo was 4-0 for the day including a final’s match that pitted him against a 5A competitor winning in a tie breaker.
Jacob Mann also took a top spot in the 175 pound weight class. Gage Mills placed second in the 215 pound class and Derrick Vanduch finished 3rd in the 150 class and Charles Nelson place 4th in the 157 pound division.
Game Cancelled
Winter weather has once again scuttled plans for the Siuslaw Viking to play basketball. The game scheduled in Sisters for today had to be canceled due to the storm that closed highway 126 and subsequent issued along the mountain passes. We are waiting on word as to when or if the game will be rescheduled. The teams are scheduled to play LaPine on Friday weather permitting.
College Hoops
The Oregon Ducks defeated the Cal Bears on Saturday 80-73.
The Oregon State Women’s basketball team defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils yesterday 92-55 and the Oregon Duck women completed a sweep of the Arizona teams with a win against the Wildcats yesterday 70-68.
