Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Viking junior wrestler Leo Robertson as this week’s Athlete of the Week. In Saturday’s Nick Lutz Invitational tournament Leo went 4-0 taking the 144 pound weight class defeating his 5A opponent Wyatt Smith of North Bend in an overtime match.
Honorable Mention
Honorable Mention goes to Mapleton freshman basketball player Roenin Barrows. According to Mapleton coach Eric Wolgamatt, Barrows had a breakout performance in Thursday’s game against Triangle Lake scoring 12 points and showing impressive offensive skills.
Viking/Mapleton Sports
As of now the Siuslaw Viking basketball games against Pleasant Hill will be played tomorrow at Glen Butler Court. The Boys face the Billies first at 6pm with a 5:45 pregame on KCST the girls to follow.
Mapleton is scheduled to play McKenzie this evening at McKenzie High, but that is subject to change.
Viking wrestling is scheduled to be on the mat in Sweet Home tomorrow weather permitting.
