Mapleton Mountain West Champs
The Mapleton Sailors wrapped up the Mountain West League championship on Saturday defeating Triangle Lake 62-34. Senior Keevyn Walker led the team with 17 followed by freshman Roenin Barrows with 14. Keevyn Walker was named league MVP while junior Dom Stewart was awarded defensive player of the year. The Sailors will now host a home playoff game against Bonanza on Tuesday. The game will be covered by KCFM 104.1 and 103.1. Bonanza is part of the Mountain Valley League and are 10-3 in their league and 16-7 overall. The Antlers were on a four game win streak until Saturday’s loss against Crosspoint Christian. Pregame on KCFM will be at 5:45.
Vikings End Season
The Siuslaw Viking’s boys basketball season is over. The boys fell to sisters on Friday 62-55.
Sailor Girls Baskteball
The Mapleton Sailor girls basketball team fell to Mohawk on Saturday and will now travel to North Douglas for a playoff game. North Douglas is ranked atop of the 1A rankings and play out of the Skyline League and are undefeated in league play. The game will be Wednesday at 6:30.
Siuslaw Wrestling
Macali Lade, Abby Riggs, Danin Lacouture and Jane Lacouture all finished in second place over the weekend at the special District 3A wrestling championship. All four will be heading to the State Championships this week in Portland. Competition will begin on Thursday and complete on Saturday. For the boys it will be Leo Robertson, Dayne Muller, Derrick Vanduch and Jacob Mann.
