Athlete of the Year 
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate two senior Siuslaw Viking Students as this year’s Athlete of the Year. At a presentation Thursday at Siuslaw High School 14 Siuslaw and 2 Mapleton students were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in the sports arena. Finalists for the girls were Jane Lacouture , Danin Lacouture, Macali Lade, Maya Wells, Abby Riggs, Alison Hughes. And Mapleton’s Lucie Burruss. For the boys it was Will Johnson, Kale Jensen, Ryan Klampe, Derrick Vanduch, Dylan Jensen, Max Reynolds, Andrew Jensen-Norman, Brayden Linton and Mapleton’s Keevyn Walker.
This year’s winners were senior Jane Lacouture and senior Derrick Vanduch.
Pac-12 Baseball
The Oregon Ducks fell to the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 tournament yesterday. The game was tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the 7th inning when a bases loaded single drove in 2 runs and stifling the Ducks. The Ducks will play USC today at 2:30.
The Oregon State Beavers could not connect the runners to home plate yesterday in their game against the Stanford Cardinal. It was not until the top of the 9th inning when Wilson Weber was able to score on a fielder’s choice. The Beavers now face elimination today in their game against the Arizona State Sun Devils at 10 am this morning.
