Viking Football
The Siuslaw Viking football team will begin their daily doubles today. Daily doubles are twice daily workouts that begin in the morning at 7am until 9 am and then resume again at 5pm until 7 pm. The Viks are coming off a 5-5 season that included one playoff game. They will face a different schedule this year as they switch leagues. Their first league opponent will be South Umpqua in early October. The Viks have three preseason games with Marshfield, North Valley and Cascade Christian. Their first game is a home game on September 6th.
Ems
After three straight losses against Vancouver the Eugene Emeralds bounced back last night to take game 6 of the series. The Ems scored 15 runs on 15 hits and held their opponents to just 4 runs in the victory. The Ems will start a 6 game series at home tomorrow against the third place Hillsboro Hops. The Ems are currently 10 games out of first place in fourth.
