Viking Win
A 64 yard touchdown pass from Micah Blankenship to Michael Felkins with 56 seconds remaining closed the deal and Siuslaw held on for a 14-7 win over the North Valley Knights Friday in Grants Pass. The Vikings took a 7-0 lead on their first possession of the game and held that lead at halftime. The Knights tied it up at 7-all on the first drive of the second quarter and the two teams were locked in a stalemate until the Knights appeared to be on the verge of taking the lead late in the game. That was when Blankenship intercepted a North Valley pass, giving the Vikings the ball on their own 16 yard line with just a minute remaining. Siuslaw wasted no time and the Junior quarterback lofted a perfectly thrown ball on the right sideline into the awaiting arms of Felkins who ran away from the pursuit. North Valley had four chances to even the score but turned the ball over on downs, clinching the win for the visiting team. The Viks will be back at home this Friday where they will host Cascade Christian of Medford in the final non league contest before opening Far West League play October 4th at South Umpqua in Myrtle Creek.
