Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior volleyball player Danin Lacouture as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Last Week Danin had 3 pancake digs versus Elmira. She had 6 successful digs, with only 2 errors, and 8 serve receive passes. But Coach McKenzie Perry says it is her character as an athlete that puts her team above self that qualifies her for the Athlete of the Week.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to Viking soccer player Kale Jensen. Kale scored 2 goals in each of our two wins last week. He is dominant in the middle of the field and creates openings in front of the net with his speed and movement. When he gets an opportunity on goal he capitalizes on it.
Viking Boy’s Soccer
Siuslaw Viking boy’s soccer continues to roll as they faced North Bend Last night. Charles Nelson was the first to score for the Vikings late in the first half taking a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Viks would press North Bend in the second half despite extreme pressure from the bulldogs. The Viks gave up two goals in the second half but scored 4 with goals from Nicholas May, Kale Jensen, Asher Borgnino and one more from Charles Nelson to take the win 5-2. The Viks are 4-0 on the season.
