Viking Volleyball
Viking Volleyball had a busy weekend in Junction City. The Vikings did well in tournament play against several 4A teams. They split sets with North Bend, and Newport and took both sets from Gladstone. Leaving them the top seed. Following in bracket play the Vikings defeated Elmira in two sets and then went up again against north bend where they fell in two sets 24-26 and 16-25. Several Viking players had standout games including Kimberly Martinez-Munoz with 26 digs, 19 kills, 8 aces on 55 attempts with 96% completion, Kylee Stinger: 34 digs, 3 blocks, 5 kills, 30 assists, 3 aces and Jolee Erickson: 23 kills, 18 digs, 6 aces. The Vikings are back at league play tomorrow at South Umpqua.
Cross Country
Freshman Harrier Henry Stone was the lead Viking in Friday’s Champs Invite at Cheadle Lake Park. Stone completed the 5,000 meter run in 16:49.80 to take seventh place overall. Another freshman, Bentley Nelson finished 11th and senior Clayton Wilson finished in 14th. for the ladies senior Addison McNeil was the top Viking finishing in 17th.
Mapleton Volleyball
On Friday the Mapleton Volleyball team took on their predecessors in an alumni match. The team took out their opponents in 4 sets. They are on the court this evening against Eddyville at home at 5pm.
Ducks Dispose of Bruins
The Oregon Ducks devoured another opponent on Saturday taking down the UCLA Bruins 34-13 scoring 28 of their 34 points in the first half. QB Dillon Gabriel was 31 of 41 passing with 278 yards and 3 td’s. the ducks had 153 yards rushing.
Boys Soccer
Siuslaw boys will host Sisters on the Soccer Field today at home beginning at 6:30
