Viking Soccer
The Siuslaw Viking boys soccer team faced Santiam Christian on the road Thursday evening, battling through injuries and lineup changes in a tough, competitive match. The Eagles capitalized early with two quick breakaways, scoring twice before Siuslaw found their rhythm. Kale Jensen netted the Vikings’ first goal after strong ball movement, but Santiam responded with three more goals in the first half. Charles Nelson assisted Jensen for a second Viking goal, leaving the halftime score at 5-2. In the second half, Siuslaw pressed hard, and Charles scored off a free kick by Terrance Masterman. Despite creating numerous chances and taking 20 shots, the Vikings couldn’t close the gap, falling 7-3 in a spirited effort.
Viking Volleyball
The Siuslaw Viking volleyball team delivered a strong performance during their homecoming week match against South Umpqua, winning 3-1 with scores of 25-20, 25-13, 11-25, and 25-20. Abby Riggs shined with 14 kills, an impressive 0.361 hitting efficiency, and 8 digs, earning a recommendation for athlete of the week. Kimberly Martinez Munoz added 12 kills, 3 aces, and 26 kills, while Kamorah Lake contributed 8 kills with a 0.368 efficiency and 3 blocks. Kylee Stinger recorded 16 digs and 15 assists, and standout sophomores Paige Bottensek, Chloe Clark, and Stella Duman played key roles in the victory.

Viking football will host Sutherlin for Homecoming this evening. Coverage of the game will begin at 6:45 on KCST. The Ducks are in Indiana to face Purdue, that game will begin on KCFM at 3pm. the OSU Beavers will be at home Saturday against UNLV. Pregame on KCFM is at 6pm
