Point After – New Night and Time
Coast radio’s weekly program focusing on Siuslaw Viking Football in the 2024 season will wrap up the season one night earlier than usual this week. The Point After with Ryan Denning and featuring head coach Sam Johnson will wrap the season Wednesday evening at 7:05 on KCST. The show has aired on Thursdays this fall, but due to a conflict with an Oregon Duck basketball game it has been moved up a day. The Vikings ended their season with a 55-22 quarterfinal loss to North Valley last Friday in Florence. The Far West League Champions were undefeated in league play, 5-0, and were 9-1 overall.
Athlete of the Week – Joel Sissel
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Siuslaw Footballer Joel Sissel as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Coaches say Sissel played with heart and determination early in the playoff game against the North Valley Knights and continued to put on pressure even after the outcome of the game was no longer in question.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to senior Cross Country champion Clayton Wilson who placed 25th in the NXR Northwest Regional Championships in the 5000 meters. Wilson’s time was 15:33.10 besting his OSAA 3A state championship time by just under 3 seconds.
