Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Siuslaw wrestler Leo

Robertson as this week’s athlete of the Week.  Leo competed in the Santiam Christian Screaming Eagle tournament and reigned as Champion in the 150 pound weight class. Defeating Santiam Christian’s River Nygren for the First place finish earning the team 24.5 points.

Honorable Mention goes to Junior Siuslaw Basketball’s Owen Burtt whose defensive prowess on the court Friday against Coquille helped to propel the Vikings to victory.

Basketball

The Viking’s will be on the basketball court this evening.  They are on the road with a boys and girls game against South Umpqua. Games begin with a pregame on KCST at 5:45

Mapleton Basketball will be at Siletz Valley this evening the varsity boys will take the court first at 5:30 followed by the girls.

New Assistant Coach

Siuslaw Cross Country has announced the addition of Brian Schofield as an assistant coach, succeeding Amy Flora, who will remain on staff as a volunteer and special advisor to the head coach. Schofield, a former member of Siuslaw’s state championship cross country teams in 2011 and 2012, brings extensive competitive running experience. He will also volunteer with distance runners on the Siuslaw High School Track and Field team.
