Lady Wrestlers Advance

3 lady Vikings will be packing a bag for the State Championships in Wrestling.  Over the weekend the trio was led by Macali Lade who pinned all four of her opponents to take the district championship in the 120 pound category.  Abby Riggs placed second in the 115 pound weight class and Danin Lacouture place third at 135.  They will head to Portland for the championships which begin on February 27th.  the Viking Boys team will have their district championships this weekend.

Vikng Basketball

The Viking boy’s basketball team are solidly on top of the Far West League.  The Vikings improved to 7-1 in league after disposing of South Umpqua on Friday. Co-leaders Sutherlin lost on Friday against Douglas moving them to second place at 6-2.  The Vikings face Glide next at home tomorrow and finish off the regular season on Friday in Douglas.

The Viking girls were able to score some points against South Umpqua, but just not enough to put the game away. The Vikings were bested 38-26 on Friday.

Mapleton Basketball

The Mapleton Sailor boys finished out the regular season in basketball with a win at McKenzie on Saturday 45-32.  The Sailors sit in second place behind Eddyville Charter and await the rankings to see where in the playoff picture they will land.  The Sailor girl’s game against McKenzie is scheduled for this evening. A win tonight will secure them the top spot in the Mountain West League.

College Hoops

The Oregon Ducks made it two in a row last night against Rutgers outpacing them 75-57. Jackson Shelstad led the Ducks with 19 points. Nate Bittle added 15 with 10 rebounds. The Oregon State Beavers handed pacific a loss on Saturday 79-65. 6 beavers were in double figures led by Josiah Lake.
