Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Siuslaw senior wrestler Macali Lade as this week’s Athlete of the week. Macali’s special District 3A Championship run culminated in 4 consecutive pins over two days in the 120 pound weight class to secure her spot in the state championships finishing out the league season with 42 wins and just 3 losses.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to Mapleton girl’s basketball’s Morgan Milbrett. Morgan led the Sailors to victory with 14 points, 7 rebounds and two steals in the Sailors final regular season win over McKenzie helping to secure their top spot in the Mountain West League.
Sailor Victory
The Mapleton Sailors wrapped up league play with a dominant 57-14 win over McKenzie, securing the Mountain West League title. In addition to Morgan Milbrett’s contribution, Lucie Burruss scored 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists. Eight of nine active players contributed to the scoreboard in a strong team effort. The Sailors now move on to the Championship game this Saturday at noon in Junction City.
Basketball Tonight
The Mapleton Sailors will face Triangle Lake this evening for a league playoff at the Sailor Dome beginning at 6pm.
The Viking boys and girls Varsity teams will take the court tonight at home to face Glide. The Girls will be up first at 5:30 with a 5:15 pregame on KCST.
