Siuslaw Icebreaker
At the Siuslaw Icebreaker track and field meet Thursday at Hans Petersen Field, juniors Kale Jensen and Will Johnson each captured two event wins to lead the Viking boys to a team victory. Jensen won the 110 hurdles and high jump, while Johnson claimed the long and triple jumps. Sophomore Aidell Cadet led the Lady Vikings, winning the 100 hurdles and high jump, helping the girls also take the team title. Siuslaw athletes brought home numerous individual wins across sprints, distance, and field events. The Vikings capped off the day by sweeping both the boys and girls 4×400 relay races.
Baseball Cancelled
Weather put a damper on boys baseball cancelling their game against Sweet Home. The Vikings game today against Marshfield has also been cancelled
The Viking Softball team did get a game in yesterday against Creswell. The girls were defeated 11-1. Mapletons softball game against Junction City today has been cancelled.
NCAA Tournament
On the schedule for this evening is the NCAA Tournament for the Oregon Ducks. They will face Liberty university. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:10 but that could vary some depending on other games results. It will be broadcast on KCST. If Oregon wins, they will face the winner of the Arizona/Akron game this weekend.
