Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Viking Golfer Ryan Klampe as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Ryan excelled in two matches this past week to take a First Place finish in last week’s district tournament in Salem and following it up with a second place finish on Wednesday.
Honorable Mention
Honorable Mention goes to junior Kale Jensen who had two wins in last week’s opening Siuslaw Icebreaker track and field event. Winning the 110m hurdles at 17.21 and the high jump 5’9”
Beavers and Washington Huskies
The Oregon State Beavers will play the Washington Huskies this evening at a neutral site. The teams will play in Hillsboro beginning at 6:05 this evening.
Viking Error Costs Game
The Siuslaw Vikings were ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning when an error allowed for two runs to cross the plate for Bandon giving them the 5-4 victory. Next up for the Vikings is a double-header on Friday in Toledo. Games will begin at 11:45 on KCST.
Softball Battle
Siuslaw Girls softball battled Bandon yesterday. The first game of the double header was a run fest with the two teams scoring 37 runs with Bandon coming out on top 19-18. In the second game the Viking bats dried up and fell to the Tigers 12-1.
Mapleton Softball was defeated by Philomath 10-8. Results from Game two against Yreka were not posted. The North Medford tournament continues today with the Sailors facing Dayton and then a California team HOOPA both games are morning games.
