Max Perry Named Athletic Director for Siuslaw High School

Siuslaw High School has named Max Perry as the new Athletic Director and Teacher On Special Assignment for the 2025–2026 school year. A 2007 Siuslaw graduate, Perry was a four-time All-American in Track and Field at Southern Oregon University. He taught English from 2015 to 2022 and has coached multiple sports, including basketball and wrestling in Alaska. Most recently, he served as Dean of Students at Siuslaw and continues to coach track and field. School officials say Perry brings strong leadership and a passion for student success to his new role.

Eephus Premieres

A new film hitting the big screen tomorrow takes a slow, thoughtful pitch at America’s pastime. Eephus — named after the quirky, high-arcing baseball throw — is a quiet, nostalgic look at middle-aged men playing ball on a fading local field. It opens with a nod to Lou Gehrig and plays like a bittersweet farewell to not just a game, but a way of life. Reviewers call it a nearly perfect baseball movie in a minor key. Eephus shows tomorrow at 1 p.m. at City Lights Cinemas.

Viking Baseball/Softball

The Viking baseball and Softball teams are scheduled to play tomorrow.  The boys are expected to travel to Toledo with the girls facing Taft.  Both teams will have double header games.  The boys will begin at Noon and the Girls will begin at 2pm weather permitting.  Coast Radio is planning on airing the second game of the boy’s double header with a start time of 1:45.

College Basketball Crown

The Oregon State Beavers are not quite done with basketball.  They will participate in the newly formed College Basketball Crown that will premiere next week in Las Vegas.  The team will meet the University of Central Florida on Tuesday with a 2pm start time on KCFM.  However the team will play without three key players that have opted to enter the college portal for transfer to another college. Michael Rataj, Nate Kingz and DaJohn Craig have all departed the team.
