Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior Kale Jensen as this week’s Athlete of the Week! Kale won the Mondo Track Club Decathlon at Summit with 5,891 points—third all-time in Viking history. He led from Day One, winning both the high jump and pole vault, and set personal records in seven of ten events.
Honorable Mention
Honorable Mention: goes to Siuslaw Viking Baseball player Jacob Mann. Mann got the won from the mound in Saturday’s first game against Toledo striking out 8 and providing the Vikings with 3 runs on offense in the 7-6 victory.
Viking Golf
Siuslaw junior Ryan Klampe led the Vikings with a strong showing at Monday’s district golf tournament in Gleneden Beach. Klampe carded a 6-over 77 at Salishan Golf Links, finishing second overall with rounds of 38 and 39 on the par-71 course. As a team, Siuslaw posted a 351, placing fourth out of 14 schools in the 3A/2A/1A Special District 2. Micah Blankenship followed with an 81, Will Johnson added an 84, and freshman Mason Wright shot a 109. The boys return to action April 14 at McNary Golf Course, while the Lady Vikings play April 21 at Florence Golf Links.
Varsity softball will be in Newport today for a single game beginning at 5pm.
Oregon State Beavers Basketball
The Oregon State Beavers have one more chance to continue playing D1 basketball this season as they enter the newly formed College Basletball Crown Tournament in Las Vegas. Today’s game will be without three of their starters who opted for the college portal. Game time on KCFM is 2pm
