Viking Defeat at Newport
The Siuslaw Varsity Vikings struggled against Newport on Tuesday, falling 12-0. Newport jumped ahead early, scoring twice in the first and adding two more in the second following a Viking error. A six-run third inning broke things open, with Newport capitalizing on three hits and a series of walks. Jacob Mann took the loss for Siuslaw, while Bruns earned the win for Newport, tossing three scoreless innings. Lucca Flosi, Cole Krieger, Joel Sissel, and Maximus Reynolds each had hits for the Vikings. Siuslaw looks to bounce back Friday when they face Elmira.
Softball Rescheduled
Yesterday’s varsity softball game against Reedsport has been rescheduled for today at 4:30.
Beavers Over Portland
Aiva Arquette crushed two home runs and drove in six to lead eighth-ranked Oregon State past Portland, 10-6, Tuesday in Hillsboro. Arquette went 4-for-5 and tied the team lead with nine homers. Gavin Turley extended his hit streak to 15 games, and Wyatt Queen earned the win in relief. OSU is now 23-7 on the season.
