Siuslaw Baseball/Softball

South Umpqua senior Drew Camp struck out 11 over six innings Tuesday as the Lancers topped Siuslaw, 8-3, in a Far West League baseball opener at Tri City. The Vikings (2-8, 0-1) host South Umpqua (6-7, 1-0) in a doubleheader Friday at 3 p.m. Max Reynolds doubled and scored twice for Siuslaw, which rallied to within 6-3 before the Lancers added two in the sixth.

In softball, South Umpqua plated 12 runs over the first two innings and cruised to a 15-0, four-inning win. Siuslaw (1-10, 0-1) hosts a Friday doubleheader. Junior Elizabeth Redelfs had the Vikings’ only hit.

Track

The Siuslaw Viking track and field athletes will compete today in Sutherlin competition begins at 4pm.

Beavers Baseball

Carson McEntire hit his second home run of the season and drove in three runs to lead sixth-ranked Oregon State to a 7-1 win over No. 10 UCLA Tuesday night in Los Angeles. The Beavers broke it open with a five-run fourth inning, while the bullpen held UCLA to just four hits. James DeCremer earned the win in relief, and Laif Palmer notched a three-inning save. Oregon State opens a three-game road series at CSUN Thursday. Coverage begins on KCFM at 5 p.m.
