Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate sophomore track and field Phenom Aidell Cadet as this week’s athlete of the week.  Aidell had three personal records this past weekend in the 100 meter hurdles, the 300 meter hurdles and in the 4×100 relay.  Her time in the 100 meter hurdles was 8th in school history.

Honorable Mention

Honorable Mention goes to Senior Siuslaw baseball player Joel Sissel. Joel, against Douglas picked up the win on the mound throwing 5 innings giving up 1 run. while at the plate he had a base clearing double picking up 3 rbi’s leading the Vikings to a far west league win.

Siuslaw Boy’s Golf

The Siuslaw boys varsity golf team finished second at Monday’s 3A-2A-1A SD2 league match, posting a team score of 343. Ryan Klampe led the Vikings with a 75, finishing second overall among 34 golfers. Will Johnson shot an 87, Camden Linton an 89, Micah Blankenship a 92, and Jaxon Chiang a 99. Coach says the team improved by 30 strokes from last week and looks to go even lower at Today’s State Preview Tournament at Trysting Tree in Corvallis. Meanwhile, Siuslaw’s JV boys won their final 9-hole match of the season, led by Mason Wright’s 47.

Lade Commits to Washington

Siuslaw multi-sport athlete Macali Lade has signed a letter of intent to wrestle at Washington State University.  Lade, a two-time state champion, was 45-and-3 as a senior winning the 120 lb title in 2025.  She also won the title two years ago as a sophomore.  She will wrestle in the 117-pound weight class for the Cougars.  In addition to wrestling, the Siuslaw High School Senior also competes in Track and Field as well as Golf.  She is also on the 118th Rhododendron Festival Senior Court.

Baseball

The Oregon Ducks moved up in the NCAA Baseball Rankings from number 13 to number six this week.  The 30-and-12 Ducks swept the ‘then 3rd ranked” Oregon State Beavers in three games over the weekend.  The three losses for the Beavers saw them drop from that lofty ranking to just behind the Ducks coming in at number 7.

Both teams will meet this evening in Corvallis for the fourth game of their series. The pregame show for the Beaver broadcast is at 5:00 on KCFM. First pitch is at 5:35.
