Viking Athletes Score High
Siuslaw High School is earning top marks both on the field and in the classroom. The Vikings’ boys golf team ranked fifth in the state among 3A/2A/1A schools with a 3.70 GPA, while the Lady Vikings track and field team placed ninth at 3.73. Siuslaw’s band and choir each ranked third overall with GPAs above 3.5. The softball team came in 12th at 3.55, and the boys track and field team earned 18th at 3.33. All teams earned Academic All-State honors from the OSAA for maintaining GPAs over 3.0. (Exploding Whale Sports)
On the Mound
Sutherlin High school baseball and softball teams will visit Florence today to face the Siuslaw Vikings. Today’s matchup will be a double header for both sports with games beginning at 3pm. the Viking baseball game will air on KCST beginning at 2:45.
College Baseball
The Oregon Ducks are in Lansing Michigan for a baseball series against the Spartans of Michigan state. The Oregon State Beavers will be in Hawaii for a three game series with games beginning late. Tonight’s game will air on KCFM beginning at 9pm. as will Saturday’s game. On Sunday pregame will be at 3:30 and Monday night will be at 9pm.
Track and Field Today
Today the Siuslaw Track and Field team will host the Central Coast Invitational with teams from around the region. First competition is slated for 4pm.
