Baseball and Softball Season Ends
The Siuslaw Vikings baseball team split their final double header on Friday. A walkoff run with bases loaded in game one ended the game 8-7 for Glide. The Vikings took game two with a 10-6 victory. The Vikings ended the season just 3-9 in league play. The Lady Vikings dropped both their games against Glide 14-1 and 11-0.
The Mapleton Sailors softball team defeated Creswell for the final games of the regular season. 12-1 and 8-4. The Sailors now look to the post season tied atop the league with Harrisburg/Monroe. They will play today, weather permitting against Amity who had a league record 10-8 this season. The game is scheduled to be played in Elmira at 4pm.
Track and Field
Clayton Wilson now holds records in all of the running events in Track and field this season. As part of the 4×400 relay at Friday’s Wally Ciochetti invitational. The team broke the Siuslaw record with a time of 3:22.66 and earned a second place finish. Wilson also finished 2nd in the 800 meter race. Other notables were a pair of 4th place finishes for Michael Felkins in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, a first place finish for Kale Jensen in the Long Jump with a PR 21’ 8.5” Will Johnson took two second place finishes in the Pole Vault and the Triple Jump. For the girls Aidell Cadet took second place in the 300 meter hurdles with a PR time of 47.75. and a third place finish in the Triple Jump. Danin Lacouture took third in the shot put and fourth in the discus. And Keira Johnson took 4th in the Pole Vault. This Thursday and Friday will be the 3A special district one championships held at Siuslaw.
College Baseball
The Oregon State Beavers finished up the regular season with a sweep of Long Beach State. Taking Saturday’s game in 7 innings with a 13-0 drubbing of their opponents. They will have the week off as they await their matches in the post season.
The Oregon Ducks have won their last 10 games and handily disposed of Iowa on Saturday 13-4. the Ducks will now be in the Big 10 tournament in Omaha which begins this Thursday for the Ducks facing Michigan State.
