Ducks Lose

Oregon’s 11-game winning streak came to an end Saturday morning as the No. 4 Ducks fell to Nebraska 7-3 in their final game of Big Ten Tournament pool play. The Ducks committed a season-high four errors—three in the first five innings—contributing to a 6-1 deficit. Anson Aroz doubled and scored Oregon’s first run in the second, but Nebraska capitalized on defensive miscues and added insurance late. Chase Meggers and Carter Garate helped spark a ninth-inning rally, but it wasn’t enough as Oregon dropped to 42-14 heading into the postseason.

Mapleton/Elmira Softball

The Elmira softball team, which co-ops with Mapleton, opens the OSAA 3A state playoffs this evening with a first-round game at Amity.
