Mapleton Sailor Morgan Milbrett and the Elmira/Mapleton softball team Amity in the first round of the state playoffs scoring 14 runs and holding Amity to just 2! They advance to face Scio this evening at 5:00 p.m. in Scio. Mapleton Track and Field will have representation tomorrow at the State championships, Natalee Stevens, qualified for state in the pole vault after competing at Districts at McKenzie.

13 Viking boys and 6 Viking girls will be in Eugene tomorrow and Friday for the OSAA State Championships in Track and Field.

Hadley Wells, formerly Hadley Roe, will be inducted into the Siuslaw High School Hall of Fame on August 22nd, 2025. A trailblazer in distance running, Wells placed 10th at state as a freshman in 1998, sparking a new era for Viking cross country. She went on to win district titles in cross country and track, set school records in the 800 and 1,500 meters, and earned 11 varsity letters across three sports. Coach Chris Johnson credits her as the program’s first elite distance runner.
