Coaching Position Filled

Siuslaw Middle School math teacher Amanda Richards will take on a triple coaching role for the high school Vikings next year. Richards has been named head coach for the Lady Vikings softball team, adding to her responsibilities as assistant volleyball coach and head girls basketball coach. Athletic Director Max Perry announced the move Friday, praising Richards’ dedication and leadership. Richards, a former high school and junior college basketball player, has coaching experience in volleyball and softball at both the high school and varsity levels, including six years at Eisenhower High School in Kansas.

College World Series

Oregon State fell 6-2 to Coastal Carolina Sunday night at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. Easton Talt and Gavin Turley each hit solo home runs, with Turley’s 20th of the season coming in the ninth. The Beavers put two on in the final frame but couldn’t rally. Starter Ethan Kleinschmit gave up six runs—only two earned—as OSU now faces Louisville in an elimination game Tuesday. The Cardinals staved off elimination by sending the Arizona Wildcat home with an 8-3 victory.  The winner of tomorrow’s game will face Coastal Carolina on Wednesday.
