Beaver’s Season Over
Oregon State’s season came to an end Tuesday with a 7-6 loss to Louisville at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. The Beavers rallied for three runs in the ninth to tie it, but a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning sealed the win for the Cardinals. Aiva Arquette hit his 19th home run, and Jacob Krieg added his 14th for OSU, which finished the season 48-16-1. Reliever Kellan Oakes took the loss, his first of the year. Oregon State totaled nine hits in the game, led by Arquette and Gavin Turley with two apiece.
Mapleton Football
Mapleton Sailors football is back this fall, with a six-game schedule posted for six-man play. The season kicks off Friday, September 5, at Crow, followed by five league games in 1A Special District 2. Home games include October 10 vs. Falls City and October 23 against Alsea. Jack Devereaux takes over as head coach, with Justin Gaston as assistant. After sitting out last season due to a lack of players, the Sailors are ready to return. Practice begins August 18
