Oregon State outfielder Canon Reeder was selected Monday in the 18th round of the Major League Baseball Draft, taken 533rd overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Reeder, a native of Bend, Oregon, started 53 games for the Beavers last season, batting .293 with eight home runs, 11 doubles, and 27 walks. Over three seasons, he’s appeared in 107 games, hitting .281 with 53 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. He becomes the 10th Beaver ever drafted by the Pirates, and the first since Garret Forrester in 2023.

Five Oregon Ducks were selected Monday on the final day of the Major League Baseball Draft. Outfielder Mason Neville and pitcher Jason Reitz went in the fourth round, Grayson Grinsell followed in the sixth, Jacob Walsh in the 15th, and Anson Aroz in the 19th. The Ducks’ three picks in the top six rounds tied a program record, and their five total selections in the top 20 rounds matched the second-most in school history. Neville, picked by the Reds, became the second-highest drafted Oregon outfielder ever.

The Eugene Emeralds break for the All-Star game this week, but will be back on the  mound on Friday at home versus Tri-City.
