Sports Camps
Soccer and football camps are underway today at Siuslaw High School. The Junior Kickers Soccer Camp runs from 9 to noon for grades 2 through 8, and the Summer Football Camp hits the field from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for grades 1 through 8. Volleyball camp is set for next week, and official fall practices for Siuslaw teams begin in two weeks. Registration also continues for Siuslaw Youth Soccer and the Boys & Girls Club fall flag football league.
Ems Take Series
The Eugene Emeralds rolled past the Everett AquaSox 7-2, locking in their sixth straight series win. With just 30 games left in the regular season, the Ems hold an 8-game lead and sit 27-9 in the second half. A five-run first inning set the tone, highlighted by RBI hits from Charlie Szykowny, Zane Zielinski, and Zander Darby. Szykowny later added a solo homer—his 15th of the season. Starter Greg Farone threw six strong innings, giving up just one run and striking out six, extending his dominance on the mound.
