Ems Take 8th Consecutive Series
The Eugene Emeralds wrapped up their road trip with a 3-1 win over the Tri-City Dust Devils, securing their 8th straight series victory. The Ems haven’t dropped a series in the second half and now hold a 35-13 record, nine games ahead with 18 to play. Charlie Szykowny’s 16th homer of the year and RBI hits from Quinn McDaniel and John Carlos Sio powered the offense. Starter Josh Bostick was dominant again, striking out seven in six shutout innings. Austin Strickland closed it out in the 9th for his fourth save of August. The Ems return home Tuesday to open a six-game set with Hillsboro.
Ducks Scrimmage
The Oregon Ducks held their second major preseason scrimmage Saturday afternoon inside Autzen Stadium. Head coach Dan Lanning said the offense bounced back after the defense controlled the first scrimmage, opening with a 13-play scoring drive and protecting the football with no interceptions. He added the defense forced long drives and limited explosive plays, creating solid back-and-forth competition. Lanning praised the team’s energy and intensity, noting there’s still plenty to clean up as camp moves into its second half. The Ducks return to practice today.
