Ems Split Series with Hops
The Eugene Emeralds dropped a tough one Sunday night, falling 2-1 to the Hillsboro Hops. It’s the first time the Ems have lost back-to-back games since July 10th, finishing the six-game set with a 3-3 split. Pitching was dominant on both sides, with Eugene’s Charlie McDaniel throwing six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six. The Ems took a 1-0 lead in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Jonah Cox, but Hillsboro rallied in the ninth with two runs to steal the win. Eugene is now 38-16 in the second half, holding a seven-game lead with 12 to play. After a day off, they open a six-game road series Tuesday in Everett.
