One is the Ems Magic Number

The Eugene Emeralds shut out the Everett AquaSox 4-0 Thursday night for their 10th shutout of the season and a 3-0 series lead. Eugene now sits 25 games above .500 in the second half with a 41-16 record and just nine games to play. Charlie Szykowny powered the offense, driving in three runs including his 20th home run of the season—his seventh in August. Nate Furman added an RBI after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the ninth. Starter Tyler Switalski was dominant, taking a no-hit bid into the sixth before finishing with six scoreless innings, and Darien Smith closed with a three-inning save. The Emeralds’ magic number to clinch the second-half title is down to one.
