Siuslaw Volleyball
The Siuslaw Vikings volleyball team lost in three sets to Junction City last night, 18-25, 20-25, and 15-25. Despite the loss, head coach McKenzie Perry said the girls did a great job of keeping their intensity up while playing from behind, with solid efforts across the court. A standout performance came from Paige Bottensek, who tallied 5 aces on 14 serves. Kylee Stinger and Stella Duman also impressed with smart, aggressive hitting. Coach Perry says the team will turn its focus to serving consistency and out-of-system play in practice.
Siuslaw Girls Soccer
Siuslaw’s girls soccer team turned in another solid defensive effort Thursday but fell 3-1 in league play against Creswell at Hans Petersen Stadium. The Lady Vikings are now 1-3-1 overall and 0-3-1 in Special District 3 action. Creswell improved to 4-1 and is ranked No. 12 in the state by the OSAA. Through five matches, Siuslaw has allowed just 13 goals, holding opponents to fewer than three scores on average. The Vikings travel to Sisters on Tuesday, then return home Thursday to face La Pine.
Siuslaw Football
Siuslaw football will be up against a hard charging team this evening as they travel to Cascade Christian. The team has racked up 125 points in their three games while holding opponents to just 25 combined points. The Vikings are coming off a close victory against the number 2 team in the state last week. Cascade Christian is currently ranked number 1 in the state. Pregame on KCST will begin at 6:45 with kickoff at 7 pm.
Cross Country
Tomorrow the boys and girls cross country team will be at Alderbrook golf course for the Mook XC invitational. Varsity silver races will begin at 10:45 and gold races will begin at 2:30. A late Elite race for times under 19:45 for girls and 16:45 for boys will start at 3:30 and 4pm respectively.
The Ducks and the Beavers will battle at Autzen Stadium tomorrow. Kickoff will be at noon. Pregame on KCFM will begin at 11am and 10:30 on KCST.
