Boys Soccer

The Siuslaw Vikings boys soccer team opened league play Thursday with a 4-1 victory over East Linn Christian at Hans Petersen Field. The Vikings controlled the tempo, with first-half goals from Kale Jensen and Sailor Jensen. In the second half, Henry Stone scored off a throw-in from Asher Borgnino, and Yair Brito-Xilot added another on a long free kick that slipped past the Eagles’ keeper. Goalkeeper Terrance Masterman tallied 12 saves, while Jensen and Brito-Xilot each had key defensive stops. East Linn scored its lone goal in the closing seconds. The win gives Siuslaw momentum heading into the league schedule.

Viking Volleyball

The Siuslaw Vikings volleyball team battled hard against Coquille Thursday night, taking the opening set 26-24 before dropping the next three by scores of 14-25, 10-25, and 15-25. Stella Duman led with 9 kills, 10 assists, and 3 blocks, while Kylee Stinger added 7 kills, 9 assists, 8 digs, and 3 aces. Mia Snider contributed 5 kills and 8 digs. Coquille, fresh off a sweep of fourth-ranked Douglas, showed dominant hitting and serving as the match went on. Despite the loss, the Vikings celebrated taking a set from one of the league’s toughest teams. They’ll head to the Junction City Tournament on Saturday.

Girls Soccer

Viking girls soccer was also on the field yesterday at Siuslaw.  There are no details released on who did the scoring, however they dominated La Pine scoring 7 goals and holding La Pine to a zero.  The lady viks improve to 3-3-1.

Viking Football

The Siuslaw Vikings Football will be at home this evening.  They will host a La Pine team hungry for their first win.  The Vikings will be without their seasoned QB, Micah Blankenship, who is out with a shoulder injury. This is the final preseason game for the Vikings who begin league matchups next week with South Umpqua.  Pre-game tonight on KCST will be at 6:45.

College Football

The Ducks and the Beavers will be on the field beginning this evening with the Beavers at home against Houston, 6:30 pregame on KCFM. tomorrow on KCST the Ducks will be in Pennsylvania against Penn State with a pregame at 3pm

Cross Country

Siuslaw Cross Country will host the Woahink Lake Cross Country Invitational tomorrow with JV races beginning at 11:45.
