Bus Stop Replacement
The City of Florence, in partnership with Lane Transit District, has received a $60,000 State Transportation Improvement Fund grant from ODOT to replace several deteriorated Rhody Express bus shelters. The City is contributing a $15,000 local match through in-kind labor, equipment, and supplies to install six new shelters around town. The first replacement, located on 8th Street near Safeway, is already complete. The remaining sites—at Oak Street by the Middle School, 43rd and Oak, 21st near Grocery Outlet, Spruce Street, and PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Hospital—will follow soon. The new aluminum shelters, purchased from Oregon Corrections Enterprises, are built to withstand coastal weather and improve comfort and safety for local transit riders.
