Athlete of The Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior Viking volleyball standout Stella Duman, this week’s Athlete of the Week. Stella has been a consistent team leader in both performance and spirit, demonstrating exceptional leadership, mentorship, and positivity throughout the season. Last week, she recorded 12 kills against Coquille with a team-high hitting efficiency of .308 and added 12 digs. She followed that up with 17 kills, a .361 efficiency, and 12 digs versus South Umpqua. At this weekend’s tournament, Stella dominated again with 30 kills, 6 blocks, and 2 aces in four two-set matches. Coach McKenzie Perry says Despite many of the team’s matches ending in three-set losses, Stella continues to shine — quite literally carrying her team each week.
Honorable mention goes to Viking Football’s senior Jacob Mann. Jacob was dominant in Friday’s win over Sutherlin with multiple tackles, a recovered fumble and two sacks on the Bulldog QB.
Schedule
Siuslaw Soccer has one more non-league game before the start of playoffs. However they have the week off to prepare. Their last seasonal game will be next Tuesday the 28th against Pacific/Bandon. The Viking girls will have two league games left with a trip today to LaPine and ending with a home game on Thursday against Elmira. Viking Volleyball travels today to Glide. Mapleton volleyball will be at home today versus Mohawk.
