Soccer Playoffs
The Siuslaw Viking boy’s Soccer team will take the two and a half hour ride this afternoon to Dayton to face the Pirates. Dayton is undefeated with one tie this season and previously beat Siuslaw 3-1 in a game that could have gone either way. The pirates are known for scoring multiple goals recording wins of 11-3, 8-0 and 9-1. The game will be at 6pm this evening.
Duck Men’s Basketball
A furious comeback by the university of Hawaii last night erased a 14 point Oregon lead in men’s basketball, taking a 54-53 lead, but the Ducks held on with Takai Simpkins scoring 6 straight points to help Oregon defeat Hawaii. Final score 60-59. The Ducks will host Rice on Friday.
Lake Making Inroads to Records
Siuslaw sports historian and Hall of Fame inductee Don Hunt reports sophomore quarterback Jericho Lake has climbed to sixth on the Vikings’ single-season passing touchdown list. With three more scores in last week’s 56–34 win over Coquille, Lake now has 18 TD passes and over 1,000 yards in just six and a half games since taking over the starting role. The Vikings are 6-0 with Lake under center.
